This body of work encompasses an eclectic range of research methods. From the history of adventure and free play settings from the early 20th century to adjacent play forms like skateboarding and bushcraft. Both the practicalities of facilitating free play and the realities of co-design processes with young people continue to be explored, whether through material and tool libraries in adventure playgrounds or design and making workshops and use of loose parts play.
